This is one post in a multi-part series on prayer in action. Please set aside 10 minutes to read and pray through the guide below. Use the TASK to move forward in serving Christ.
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. – Philippians 2:3-4
God, teach me to see things the way that they are. I am not the center of the universe. My life is not the most important. You have created a world with billions of men and women who are designed in your image. Help me to see that the people in my life are important and help me to treat them as if they are more important than I am. I want to follow your example and prefer others, serve others and honor others even if the cost is great. Today help me specifically to:
- see the needs of those around me with compassion
- share your love through my words and actions
- remember your example in all things
Help me to cultivate a habit of prayer because I need you to help me. I don’t want to live the Christian life without you. Draw me close to your side. Show more more of your glory. Fill me up with you Spirit. And help me to love like you do.
TASK: Identify three people you interact with regularly in life – one who is struggling, one who does not know Christ and one who you do not know well. Ask God to guide you in loving each of those people in a meaningful way. Make sure to take time in your prayer to listen for God’s response.
