This is one post in a multi-part series on prayer in action. Please set aside 10 minutes to read and pray through the guide below. Use the TASK to move forward in serving Christ.

Now fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Then the people answered, “Far be it from us to forsake the Lord to serve other gods! – Joshua 24:14-16

Lord, I know that You have put me where I am now for a reason. My life has been perfectly designed by You to make maximum impact for your glory and your kingdom. I have chosen to serve You, but I know that this isn’t just a one-time decision. It’s something that I must choose to do every day in every situation. In light of that, I am asking right now that You help me to serve you with all that I am:

- at work

- at home

- with friends

- in the church

- in the community

- and wherever else is possible

I know that serving You doesn’t cause you to love me more or accept me more. I thank you for you grace and how you show it in my life. But I am asking that You would help me and empower me specifically to be your special servant who is appointed to your specific work. Don’t let me miss what You’ve put me here for.

TASK: Ask God what He has assigned for you today. Are you meant to share your faith with a friend? Are you called to help a neighbor in need? Do you need to forgive someone who has offended you? Take time to hear the Lord speak and guide you as his servant. Bosses give directions to those who work in their department – listen for direction and then act on it with passion, creativity and joy.
