Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. – Ephesians 3:20-21
God, I want to see You do big things in my life and in my world. I want to see You use me to accomplish your purposes. I know that You are more powerful, wise, creative and wonderful than I can imagine. Often, I am tempted to think that I know best for my life – that my plans and desires are most important. However, I know that You can do more than I could dream up. I believe that your love is greater and your power is active in my life. Please use me for your good purposes to:
- Share your Gospel often and with joy,
- Serve those in need because You served me,
- Love well, love unconditionally, love sacrificially,
- Forgive those who hurt me,
- Honor those who set an example for me and who serve You well,
- Worship You with all that I am.
My own plans and desires are pale and empty compared to your desires for me. Help me to walk with You. Teach me to trust You. Make my desire to live the life that You want me to live through your power, in your presence and for your glory.
TASK: Grab a pen and paper. Write down a list of the major goals that you have for your life. They could be professional, educational, relational or personal. Now consider what life would be like if you accomplished them all. Visualize it in your mind. Then step back and consider that God’s plan for you is much greater and better. If He may lead you to accomplish everything on your list or He may lead you to accomplish none of them. However, you can know that his plan is best. Take the next few moments to ask God to help you trust Him and his plans. Then ask that He would guide you as you give every area of life to Him.
